Overview

A Markdown and Mermaid editor I built because I kept pasting architecture diagrams into whatever renderer came up first in a search, none of which I would put a client topology into.

The problem

Writing up cloud architecture means rendering Mermaid diagrams and Markdown somewhere. The public tools are either slow, or they have no identity controls, which rules them out for anything describing a real network.

How it works

The Worker parses Markdown, verifies the JWT that Cloudflare Access puts on the request, and returns the editing workspace from whichever point of presence took the request. It uses standard web APIs, so there is no Node.js runtime to carry.

Design decisions

  • Identity comes from the Cloudflare Access JWT header, so the app has no login of its own to get wrong.
  • The build has no Node.js dependencies and stays on WinterCG APIs.
  • PDF export streams in memory rather than shelling out to a headless browser.
